Coby Kyros MID7016-4G 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet Color Black

Coby Kyros MID7016-4G
This review is from: Coby Kyros 4 GB 7-Inch Tablet with Touchscreen and Android 2.2, MID7024-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I just got mine yesterday. I really have to say I am totally impressed with it. I've played with iPad and it is definitely cool; I also owned two Kindles (one regular, one DX). My prior experience with "tablets", as such, other than the Kindle, was a cheap Chinese knock-off called "ePad", bought from a seller on Amazon maybe 9 months ago and returned promptly. This was with an older version of Android (1.6 I believe). It's worth recounting a few of the highlights of that unit's performance for contrast with this Kyros, in 2011, in the <$200 segment. It had a resistive touch screen (ok). The screen's plastic was wavy and bowed in random, odd places all around. The case for the unit was made of cheap plastic and the silver paint was chipped or just peeling off around the edges. The battery, after charging for a full 24h, lasted for 10 minutes. The battery life on subsequent charges decreased precipitously until a full charge only lasted about 2 minutes (not joking, not exaggerating). No apps could be installed whatsoever. Flash Player could not be installed. No firmware updates available. It would not recognize an SD card. There was no way to organize MP3s other than in one big long single directory. It was, in short, absolute useless garbage, and I believe I paid about $40 more for that than I did for the Coby Kyros. That thing was a proper cheap Chinese knock-off, and was an abysmal failure of the marketplace to provide any kind of meaningful competition to the far more expensive iPad. Now enter: Coby Kyros MID7024. Just on a lark I checked on tablets last week and saw this one, just released, for the right price - a cool toy. I thought I'd take another swing at the cheap tablets, did a little reading, and this one (more specifically, its predecessor, the MID7015) sounded like a solid buy. I received it, opened it up, and wow - it is COOL! The screen is flat; the frame is high-quality and solid. Everything is very precisely engineered. The little backlights behind the buttons and on the "Home" button are very slick. It has standard mini-USB, headphone jack, micro-SD, mini-HDMI. I started it... and it WORKED. Perfectly. With about 1 hour charge it lasted around 5 hours on wifi last night. Within a few minutes of turning it on, I had it connected to the home network, downloaded a free ePub book from Gutenberg Project and opened it with the pre-installed eBook reader. In a few more minutes I had configured it to check my email in 2 accounts. This morning, in a couple more minutes, I installed Amazon App Marketplace and downloaded the Kindle Reader. It plays flash movies in the web browser. Auto-rotate works very smoothly. Overall, everything seems to "just work", exactly as you'd expect it to. To be clear, this isn't a PC, nor do I expect it to be. It does load up both mobile and 'full' websites and looks just fine in both; so you can browse pretty comfortably. On a regular basis I'll carry it around the house, check email, read e-books, and potentially, load up MP3s and listen to them in the car or at work. Everything else it can do is gravy. Note that despite the misleading product label "MID7024-4G" here on Amazon, this unit is a "MID7024", and 4G stands for 4GB (internal drive space), not 4G cellular wireless. It has no 4G modem. It also does not have a GPS receiver and no straightforward way to connect an external antenna. That is one thing I would have really liked it to do. So far I have not been able to get the webcam to connect to any video chat client but I only spent a few minutes working at it with Google Chat. Out of the box, all the webcam does is stares back at you, and the photo/video quality isn't the best. I'm pretty confident that can be remedied with some kind of app, either on the web or in one of the app stores. It does not have bluetooth. Many options exist in the slightly-more-expensive $250 to $350 range that do include these features; so if you'll use them (as I suspect many folks will), this isn't going to meet your needs. But, just to have a fun around-the-house or around-the-office e-reader, email checker, multimedia player, and basic web surfer, this is absolutely right on the money. And, obviously, it's leaps and bounds better-made (both the hardware and the software) than the stupid "ePad" I bought last year. Great phone in brand new condition despite saying refurbished. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it did not come with original samsung battery. When tried to charge it with the power on would not let you because it is not a certified samsung battery. However if you turn the phone off it will charge. Packaging and shipping was not a issue at all. Came well packed with handbook and wall charger. Phone was easily upgraded to verizon account with no problems.

This cellphone was the worst ever! I have never had so much trouble with a touchscreen than I have experienced with this particular phone. The calibrations are out of sequence, I aim to press one function and it takes me to a totally different function. I took it to Verizon and one of their technicians confirmed the same thing. I hope the sellers will be able to refund me my money.

NOKIA N900 UNLOCKED PHONE MOBILE COMPUTER

Nokia N900 Unlocked Phone/Mobile Computer with 3.5-Inch Touchscreen, QWERTY, 5 MP Camera, Maemo Browser, 32 GB--U.S. Version with Full Warrantyhttp://www.handphoneqwerty.com/Nokia N900 Unlocked Phone/Mobile Computer with 3.5-Inch Touchscreen, QWERTY, 5 MP Camera, Maemo Browser, 32 GB--U.S. Version with Full Warranty

I received my n900 just a few days ago from Nokia USA. For the purposes of this review, I will compare it to my previous phone, the HTC G1. My opinions are solely based on the user experiences in the past days with the n900, and since I've never owned an iphone, I will not compare it to such.

Physical layout:
  • The N900 is a pretty beefy phone, and rightfully so. While having some heft to it, the n900 is solid and well-built. The black metal rim is a nice touch without being too gaudy. The slide is not spring-assisted but gives a nice click upon opening and closing. I have not noticed any creaks or wobbles from the screen. Few have complained about the back being hard to open. Although true, I rather have that with the peace of mind that the battery won't pop out if I dropped it (God forbid)! the n900 is of comparable size to the G1, albeit being slightly thicker, and not a problem for me.
  • I don't really understand all the fuss about resistive and capacitive screens. The n900's screen is gorgeous and is incredibly brilliant. There is a little 'give' to the screen, but I've yet to have problems with it. The screen is quite responsive and supports kinetic scrolling. I did have some difficulty clicking on small links in the browser, but that's because your index finger isn't exactly the most accurate pointing device. This was easily solved by zooming in (more on that later).
  • The keyboard is pretty good. It is a different experience coming from the G1 (as you have to type with the 'chin' in the way on your right hand) so naturally, it felt better. The keys have a grippy rubberized texture feel to them, and although the buttons are smooshed next to each other, (like a real keyboard) they have good response. I do miss the 5-row keyboard on the G1, and I don't understand why the n900's screen doesn't open up a bit more. For those with large hands, it might be a little uncomfortable. However, one plus for the n900 is that my thumbs don't have to travel as far to type.
  • I love that the placement of the speakers are on the sides of the phone, as opposed to the back on the G1. I do a lot of talking on speakerphone, and so I'm not forced to flip it upside down during a call. Sound quality is good and the speakers are decent.

Maemo 5/ Software
  • This is the ultimate customization OS. When they meant open source, they really meant it. The 4 desktops make things a lot easier to navigate. For example, one page is devoted to my common phone contacts, another utility apps, the third has bookmarks to frequent sites (the homepages of those links are previewed on the desktop, fyi), and so forth.
  • The way Maemo multitasks is ingenious. The "overview" page where you see all your actively running programs makes navigating between windows and programs very easy and efficient. One thing to note is that you have the ability to close out any of those windows upon your choosing, as opposed to the G1 where the 6 app limit neither allowed to you open more nor shut them down, making it very sluggish, especially during critical times (ie texting someone directions while running gps).
  • SMS (called conversations in Maemo) is pretty similar to the G1, but has one added step - conversations either in text or IM by the same person are displayed in the same window. The ability to have the other person's contact image in the text box (that is if you set one up for that person) is a nice touch. I personally don't care about MMS, so no gripes there.
  • The email client is pretty decent, I set up my gmail account with a few simple steps, but it isn't nearly as accessible as the gmail app on the G1. For example, I haven't found a way to delete an incoming email when it first comes in. I have to leave the letter, go into the inbox, back into the email, then delete it.
  • Browsing experience is comparable to the pc, and is nothing short of awesome. Full flash means I can access full youtube pages, and among others. I think the "swirling zoom" gesture is pretty neat, and helps me to click on the smaller links. I figured out that using your index to swirl zoom produces the best results. Alternatively, you can double click the screen or use the volume rocker. Going to previous pages not only allows you to go to the last page, but scroll through the entire history of that window. Neat.
  • Applications-wise, there are not many out there, but I'm certain many will be out soon. You can also access the Maemo repositories for more (google it) but be careful as many of them are still in development and are potentially dangerous to your phone. Noteworthy apps include Hermes (connects your social sites, like facebook to your contacts so you get contact phones, birthdates, etc) and Qik (live streaming recording).

Hardware:
  • Fast, fast, fast. Need I say more?
  • No hang ups yet, since I can close apps at my own will.
  • The camera is good, that is for a 5mp phone camera. It will never compare to a dedicated camera, but is more than effective for quick shots to upload on facebook.
  • The FM transmitter is a great add-on. Now I can share songs without having to look for an aux cable.
  • Battery life seems to last a little over a day with some text and internet. Wifi is on all the time when I'm at home. My G1 would be down to around 70% by noon.

Of course, no phone/mobile device is perfect. Here are some things that came to my attention:
  • The volume rocker is on the right side (in portrait), meaning it is nearly impossible to use as a zoom when the screen is up. Same goes for the lock switch, which is on the bottom (in landscape). Would have been much better on the sides, as it would be easier to lock after a phone call, for example.
  • Copy and paste is kinda sporadic. While you can copy all you want on webpages, I couldn't copy a phone number from one contact to another in the phonebook.
  • The stand is nice, but it swings out way too deep and feels a bit too weak. I'm afraid I'll break it someday.
  • *Little portrait support as of now, but I think it'll be fixed soon.

So there you have it. My impressions of the n900. There is still a lot of exploration to be done, but I can honestly say this is the best phone/mobile device I've ever owned. In spite of a few shortcomings, its an amazing piece of technology. A lot of things I didn't mention probably will be fixed within a firmware or two so that isn't a problem. I hope this helps anyone who is on a fence on buying one, good luck!

BUY CHEAP HTC TOUCH PRO 2

HTC TOUCH PRO 2HTC TOUCH PRO 2This review is from: HTC TOUCH PRO 2.
When HTC came out with their Touch Pro 2 in Europe, I was counting down the days until it finally was released here in the States. I had to jump through some hoops to get it through Verizon (they didn't sell it in the stores, and didn't even have a replica to check out--one guy said it was because Blackberry had such a hold on Verizon's market share). Finally I got it through their online store and phone sales (combined). I have had it now for about 9 months.

The reasons I "had" to have this one?
Style (of course...it's gorgeous!)
Wifi (it works perfectly...finds and connects with no issues)
Tethering ability (this was a biggie for me--I can use it as a wireless connection for my laptop where there is no Wifi)
Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
Adobe Acrobat
Outlook compatibility
Internet Explorer
GPS (ability to use Google Maps with GPS locater)
Multiple computer Sync ability

Pro's (in addition to the above reasons I bought it)
--Battery life isn't bad considering all it does
--Getting more apps available every day via "The Marketplace"
--Easy to personalize
--Multiple time zones/weather zones
--Text as regular text messages or use in a chat format
--The ability to pull up each contact's info and call/text/email histories
--The ability to override Verizon's lock-out on the GPS, and have continued updates
--Messenger programs (Yahoo, AIM, Google chat, etc.)
--Camera has multiple formats, from indoor filter to fun frames
--Touch screen
--Full pull-out QWERTY keyboard (this was a must for me)

The cons for this phone:
--It's not as bad as the HTC Touch Pro original or diamond, but the memory is lacking. The phone will freeze if too many applications are running. Depending on which apps you run, this could happen very quickly and easily.
--A bit weighty, but that's to be expected with the hardware involved
--Applications are sparse...and can be very expensive
--Hard to retrieve photos and email/text them once they are in the photo album
--Expensive!
--Full Data Plan is required from Verizon, so you'd better be sure you are ready for that.
--Hard to remove back cover/battery to reset it when it freezes

Overall, I am really glad I went through all of the steps to have this phone. If you need a stable Office smart phone, then this is a good choice. HTC never disappoints.

Review of Coby 7015 Tablet.

I got one of these as a 10 year anniversary gift from my company. I probably would have never bought one otherwise. All in all, i think this is an awesome little device for what it is.

I see a lot of things repeatedly addressed, other things are not, im going to try to go over every feature on this.

Please forgive my terrible spelling. ;)

When rating this i am comparing this to my samsung galazxy S droid phone, Ipads, Iphones, and Ipod touches all of which i have used many times.

==========OVERALL BUILD QUALITY=========

Good! This does not feel like a tiny junky piece of crap like i half expected. While it does not have the build quality of an Ipad, it does not feel like a little childs toy either. the buttons are solid and have a nice snappy responce to them. The Mini USB, HDMI, and DC input all seem like well built sockets, and i have no doubt they will stand the test of time. The back is a hard shell with a small speaker and reset button. It has a decent heft to it that implies stoutness, but it is light enough to carry around all day. All in all, much better than the sub $150 price tag lead you to expect. I dont like the MicroSD, there is no reason for that, they could have easily used standard SDHC cards, plus i have about a dozen SDHC cards lying around, but only one microsd. Keep the micro SD cards in the phones folks.

=============SCREEN==============
- This is the biggest point of interest to many, and probably glossed over with the least amount of information. As has been mentioned this is a resistive screen. This is NOT the same type of screen as your Ipod, Iphone, Ipad, or Droid phones or Tablets. Those devices use capacitive screens which flat out rock. The resistive screen is not as good, but it is important to know that this screen is NOT Frustrating either! It really works well! If this is NOT your experience, i suspect a faulty unit.

A) Touch and Feel - The wonderful capacitive screens feel like glass. This one feels like plastic, and like plastic it has more drag on your fingertips. The resistive screens seem to have several layers sandwiched together so they are not that flat hard surface, but slightly mushy. It does not feel as nice as the capacitive screens, it feels like older technology. The slight mushyness actually does give you somewhat of a fingertip-fatigue over time, where the capacitive (droid/iphone/ipad) screens are always a pleasure and do not tire your fingertips. I know that last part sounded rediculous, if you buy this device you will know what i mean.

B) Responsiveness - Very good for a resistive screen, in fact, this is the most impressive resistive screen i have ever used. I used to have an old LG Incite phone a few years back, it had a resistive screen and it was an absolute horrible experience to use. I was very pessimistic about this device because of the screen but once i started using it it worked just fine. It DOES come with a stylus, sometimes you will find that more comfortable, however it does seem to respond just fine to finger swipes and the stylus is absolutly not required. If on a scale of 1-10 with the LG Incite touchscreen being a 1, and the Ipad screen being a 10, this sits at a solid 8. It just isnt quite there, but like i said, this is the best resistive screen i have ever seen.

C) Resolution and Color. Not bad. The color has a slight bluish tint, almost like an uncalibrated Dell laptop screen. You photos will seem to be lacking some of the poppy reds, yellows, and oranges. So if you are a photographer like i am, forget using this as a device to showcase your images, stick with your Ipad,Iphone,Droid. I have looked for a color correction App, so far, no dice. Resolution is 480p, this is DVD quality, for a 7 inch screen this is plenty, however if it is a foot from your face you do see all the little pixels.

========= AUDIO ==============
its a cheap tiny speaker like the kind found in blackberries, droids, ipods, etc. Nothing special, the sound is weak and tinny like any other speaker of that size, but the quality is not overly objectionable if there are no other options. It is great for podcasts, youtube, etc, but it falls far short of a KRELL HEAT system... as expected. ;)

========BATTERY LIFE==========
Maybe it is just mine? The battery indicator on my Kyros is all over the map, 98% one second, 32 the next, then 75%, then 63% then 80%. use it as a guide. it apparently has no idea exactly how much juice is left. I suspect it is trying to give you an idea of how much battery life is left depending on the amount of applications running? Even the battery managers on this thing are all over the board. In the end, i can score 5-6 hours of internet surfing. The screen and tablet stay nice and cool. Maybe this is a benefit of the resistive screen, less power consumption? this is just a guess.

==========APPSLIB APPS MARKET===========
THIS IS THE WORST THING ABOUT THIS DEVICE The apps in thier apps lib market are generally crap, i diddnt find much of anything i was interested in. some of the bigger games like angry birds are there, but there are many others im interested in that dont exist. There are 165,000+ applications for the android platform, so why the hell should you be limited to about 3,000 in the apps lib? plus they are 3,000 of the crap apps nobody wants. basic stuff like some facebook apps, email apps, are there, but other than that it is mostly junk.

But guess what? there is a light at the end of the tunnel! This device can easily be rooted, once it is rooted you can install some nice software to back it up, and once that is there you can side-load applications. Such as... THE GOOGLE APP MARKET! Yes! This is awesome! All 165,000 apps i want are now available!

The problem is you have to root the device (gets superuser permissions) install the backup software (which also enables application installation outside of the apps application itself and to keep a digital backup image of your device, very nice). And to do this you literally have to add a few lines of code(not nearly as scary as it sounds i promise! once of the easiest parts), you have to download several different files all of which seem to require you to sign up to various forum boards and stuff to get.

i did this. I am not a hacker by any means, in fact, im an idiot ask anybody, i dont understand most of what i was doing, other than the basic overall idea of what i wanted to accomplish. It took me several hours, mainly because of my ignorance on this kind of stuff. The key is to go one step at a time, if something is not working, search for an answer. There is a website that gives you step by step instructions, there are many posts on there of problems they ran into and solutions around them. Just google up the ULTIMATE KYROS 7015 and look for a website that is like XDA developers or something. it is a online forumboard where people figured out how to do this junk. It is on a forum thread, read through several pages, you will see what i mean, if you run into a problem, somebody else already has, and the answer will be in that thread somewhere.

Once this is done, and you have google apps, it absolutly transforms your entire experience with this marvelous dirt cheap tablet because they stuff you WANT is all there for you. I highly highly reccommend doing this (at your own risk) and trust me, if I can do it, anybody can, just take your time, when you get stuck read ahead, somebody else probably had the same problem and figured out how to correct it and explains how.. It does require an MicroSD card though. There IS a Possility you will turn your tablet into a brick. however, from what i have seen, this almost never happens, you almost have to have a flawed device from the get-go, or be overly careless.

=========OPERATING SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY=========

Not bad at all! Mine keeps waking itself up which is annoying, but it responds to my commands, has only frozen twice, which is more than i can say for most other devices.

Keyboard - Not bad at all, works well, you get used to using two thumbs on it, you have to pace yourself and not get ahead of it, you can not type as fast as on a keyboard, but overall it seems pretty reliable. There is no vibration, so no haptic feedback which i enjoy on my samsung galaxy S phone.

Pic viewer - As i said, slight bluish cast, it is slow loading up images too. I loaded a bunch of reduced sized images to my droid phone to display my photography to possible clients, i loaded them on the Kyros and it takes about 3-4 seconds for the pictures to really lock in onto full resolution. I was a bit disappointed by this because this thing has a great little processor in it. The Slideshow is about retarded because you can choose between 2-4 seconds on the intervals and the images never really crisp up, they stay the 1/2 resolution blurry versions because they change before the processor locks them in. stupid stupid stupid.

ALDIKO e-reader.... if you want an e-reader go get a kindle or nook. that is my opinion. I briefly looked at it, it uses a backit screen, which stinks for extended reading. But the size of the text and font is pretty nice, you wont be squinting to read, and it would probably suffice for an e-reader, but it is nowhere as comfortable to look at as a kindle or nook.

The Youtube video app - I dunno, i had a hard time getting this to work properly, then i rooted my Kyros and got the google marketplace installed and it came with a much better youtube app.

Email - I am sorry, i did not even try this untill after i rooted my tablet, once the google marketplace was installed as part of the process it synched with my email. it works just fine.

Widgets seem to work just fine. I have a Facebook widget, Weather channel widget, Google widget, and a battery widget, it does not seem to slow down with the use of any of them. You ccan use live wallpaper, it seems to run just fine with live wallpaper, i dont notice any lag.

Video playback is smooth and crisp, the 480P quality is very much there.

Wi-fi performance. The wi-fi on this runs as fast as my Dell Laptop, my Samsung Galaxy S Droid phone, or any other wireless device for that matter. It is not pant-leg-flapping insane fast, but certainly nothing to complain about. If this is NOT your experience, i suspect you have a faulty unit.

===============Random things i noticed==============
Twice now in 5 days it has crashed while i was typing. Not sure why.

it keeps waking itself up. Not sure why. i have heared other reports, this may get fixed in a firmware update later.

No volume control on the side, once again, what the hell? You have to set the volume BEFORE starting any videos.

Charges VIA power cord..... will NOT charge through USB. I was actually suprised by this, maybe because it looks like a massive cellphone. That would have been nice. Go on google and look up Kyros 7015 tablet charger, and prepare to realize you will only have one. lol

more than once i had to reset the wif-fi in the device if it has been asleep for a while... annoying, but not a huge inconvenience. maybe a firmware upgrade will address this.

Applib. This just stinks. it requires rooting and such to get google market apps, and trust me google market apps is absolutly worth the effort, and it is not that difficult, and appslib just flat out sucks.

I cant believe how much bang for your buck you get. Im suprised this is not sold for closer to [...].

A few thoughts...

To address a few points, one person wrote a review and said the batterys dont last long enough, they popped it open, saw the batteries, then decided to return it. No mention if they actually USED it though. 5-6 hours of internet browsing is not enough? Really? Show me a droid phone that has that kind of battery life on wi-fi, it is right up there with the Ipad. To say that 5-6 hours of battery life is not enough is flat out stupid, because nothing really has much more battery life than this! its reviews like those that i just dont understand. jump to conclusions rather than try it out yourself.

Another person mention that it sucks because you have to root the device to get google apps and such. Well. True. Either do it or dont, Coby restricted the potential on this great tablet for some stupid reason that i could care less about, the fact is the option is there, take it or leave it. Those who are willing to do so will have a DRASTICALLY better experience than those who dont. If you dont want to root it and install google apps, then go spend [...] on the Galaxy S tablet (which looks awesome) or the iPad. To be perfectly honest, i would only give this device a 3 star rating if the option to root was not there... READ MORECoby Kyros MID7015 7-Inch Android Internet Touchscreen Tablet Black Reviews.

Phone is nice. BUT, when trying to activate on our existing Verizon no contract plan, we were informed that this is a smart phone and REQUIRES a monthly data package. The minimum monthly fee is above $50 and a bit much for our son. We will return the phone and look elsewhere. Walmart has some good no contract phones and packages.

LG RUMOR TOUCH PHONE BLUE SPRINT

Technical Details LG Rumor Touch Phone, Blue (Sprint)
Phone features 3-inch touch screen and QWERTY keyboard
Easy texting and email access keeps you instantly connected
Built-in GPS and 2.0-megapixel camera
Bluetooth-enabled for hands-free conversations
Fast connection speed with the Sprint 3G Mobile Network

Product Description LG Rumor Touch Phone, Blue (Sprint)
Stay in touch with family and friends with this mobile phone that features a full QWERTY keyboard for sending text messages quickly. The 2.0MP camera and camcorder makes it easy to capture still shots and video clips while you're on the go. Requires an Everything Plan with data.

This review is from: LG Rumor Touch Phone, Blue (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
The LG Rumor Touch is one of the best cell phones I've ever had. Its touch screen is responsive and its battery life is good (it's lasted me almost a week without requiring a charge, and I text a lot). It charges relatively quickly and it threads your text messages into conversations (which is probably my favorite thing about it. I hate having to switch between my Outbox and Inbox to follow a conversation). The camera's quality is also good.

But there are things you should know about this phone before you purchase it.

First of all, this phone does NOT support instant messaging, despite what MANY websites claim. Not even AIM or Yahoo. It simply isn't an option. I purchased this phone under the impression it did, and was sorely disappointed with this, so beware if that's a big selling point for you.

Security is also a bit of an issue with this phone. Pushing the 'Lock/Power' key on the side of the phone causes the screen to lock. This can be unlocked by ANYONE by sliding the bar to the right side of the screen. Worse, even this step can be bypassed by simply sliding out the full QWERTY keyboard. The only way to truly lock the phone is to go into your settings menu, enter your passcode, and lock the phone. You must repeat this process every time you are finished using the phone; otherwise it will default back to the "slide bar" method of locking, which (as stated above) doesn't really keep anyone from using your phone.

Some people also take issue with this phone's method of hanging up, as it uses an 'End Call' button on the touchscreen rather than a physical button at the bottom of the phone. Some don't like the method of scrolling through pictures and menus, a sort of 'click and drag' method using the touchscreen. Others complain about the lack of customization on the primary screen of the phone- there is the home button and nothing else. No shortcuts or icons of any kind. None of these was a problem for me, but these are things some people might want to know before they purchase the phone.

All in all, this is an excellent messaging phone (and I don't think I could turn back from touchscreens after this one, either). Some websites falsely advertise it's capabilities, but other than that I would recommend this phone to anyone. detail review CLICK HERE.

This review is from: Samsung Star GT-S5230 Unlocked Phone with Full Touchscreen Quad-Band GSM Bluetooth, 3.2 MP Camera, Voice Record, MP3 and MP4 Speaker Phone--U.S. Version with 1 Year Warranty (Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)

Well, nobody is perfect. This samsung S5230 is not perfect either, has very well touch monitor (not sensitive); The body is light, good small size, good reception, good sound, good display, ok photo, allow MicroSD with a good size of memory, quad band and unlocked, well structured display interface and button placements, very responsive lock button, etc. etc... The battery life is terrible, between 24-30 hours with very light use, i.e. 3-4 calls a day of 2-5 minutes/each. However, with the price of $130s, compared to LG Vue, or even iPhone... I think I can live with that (I have iPod touch that is pretty similar to the iPhone, just w/o 3G, GPS and GSM capability). Not recommended for those who are traveling a lot, but good for those who stay stationary a lot The features are awesome.
